This song began life as a jam that I used to play at Avalanche rehearsals...as a way for us to just loosen up...before serious rehearsal began. During the recording sessions in 2008...the riffs seemed to be begging to be a song...andso I arranged it ...and spent a couple of weeks writing and re-writing the lyrics in a hotel room. The song has a very sexy rhythmic feel to it...and I usually try to match up the musical and lyrical moods on the songs I write...and this one was so obvious, that to me...there was no other choice possible.
I have always believed that sex is just a very natural thing...something that "boys and girls do" because we're designed that way. I also believe it is a spiritual gift to us...and that something that is so natural and feels that good can't possibly be something to feel guilt or shame about. I also don't believe that men and women are monogamous by nature. I think that is a learned societal behavior...and something that we have been "programmed" to believe. To try to deny the part of ourselves that is based on instincts is where I see many of the problems people have in maintaining their personal relationships...and often, I believe it stems from that faulty programming. Denying our basic drives...or feeling guilt or shame for having them...isn't a whole lot different than feeling ashamed of being alive...in my opinion. We're designed the way we are for a reason...and this song is all about exploring this most natural of all human instincts. It's proven to be one of our more popular songs...so I guess there must be something to that idea that sex and rock and roll have a special relationship to each other, and that people like them both.
